The objective of this project is to design the steering system of a small boat.
The rudder will be actuated by a servo motor controlled through a potentiometer, allowing a rotation angle of 180°. A revolute joint (pivot) must be created between the rudder shaft and the boat chassis to ensure smooth and reliable rotation.
The rudder must be able to turn 60° to each side relative to the boat’s longitudinal axis, providing sufficient maneuverability. The distance between the servo motor axis and the rudder axis is 26 mm, which must be taken into account when defining the geometry of the linkage and the mechanical transmission.
